Amulya Mohan Basu Thakur
Sri Amulyamohan Basu Thakur was the sixth son of Sri Kishori Mohan Basu Thakur. He was born on October 1903(20th Ashwin, 1310). He studied in his village school. From that time onwards he played both cricket and football with his school friends and his village friends. When he was studying in class VIII he was selected in Malkhanagarh Cricket Team in 1919 when he played cricket in Faridpur.

After passing his matric in 1921 he went to Maimansingha to study in Anandamohan College. In his first year at college he was selected in both football and cricket team. After finishing studies in Maimansingha he moved to Kolkata and got admitted at Vidyasagar College. He was selected in the college cricket team in the first year itself. While playing against Hooghly College in their own ground he took nine wickets. Among them he took five wickets in five consecutive balls.

While studying in college as a student he joined Sporting union under the influence of his brother Sri Hemanga Basu Thakur. In 1928 he played in All India Cricket Tournament in Delhi for Sporting Union. He was mainly a bowler. However, he once played a great knock of 140 runs against Howrah union and got identified as a good batsman. From 1926 he played for Bengali school team consequently for five years. In 1928 he played in Eden Gardens. The match was between Calcutta Cricket Club versus Ballygunge club. All the players in both the clubs were English. But Ballygunge club had four Bengali players. In Calcutta club there were six county captains. Sri Amulyamohan Basu got the wicket of all six English cricketers with his famous swerb bowl. His elder brother Sri Hemanga Mohan caught 3 catches in slip area.

In 1942 a match was organized between Governors XI and Bengal team at Dhaka. In governors XI there were eight Indian representative players and three from Dhaka. Sri Amulyamohan was one of them. In the First day He batted with Naidu for one hour and stayed overnight. Naidu scored 78 and he scored 25. Next day he scored 50 and then got out while Naidu scored 130.

While in Calcutta he played his last cricket match in 1930. Then we went back to Malkhanagarh. He started teaching in school at the village. He created both football and cricket team of the village school. They used to play regular interschool competitions. And while in Dhaka he used to play for Dhaka Victoria Club between 1930 and 1948 he along with Sri Sailesh Basu, Sri Naresh Basu and his brothers play all the tournaments for Victoria club. He was the secretary of Bikrampur Sporting Union for two years.
