Dr. Surendranath Basu Thakur was born in 1978. He passed his medical entrance from Dhaka Medical School in 1900. In 1912 he passed his Postgraduate Diploma Course in twelve subjects from Kolkata’s Campbell Medical School. At that time he was a student of famous medicine doctor Dr. U.N. Brahmachary and his Surgical Anatomy teacher was Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. The Bengal medical Council was formed in 1914. He got registered in the first year that is on Ninth of December, 1915 he passed his medical course and took a job in the government department and was posted all around Bengal (Bangladesh). He always wanted to treat patients for free after his retirement but he was not lucky. He died when he was 60 years old in the year 1938.
