Abhik Basu Thakur
Sri Abhik Basu Thakur was the eighth son of famous Children’s Literature writer Sri Sunirmal Basu Thakur amd. Smt. Niharika Basu thakur. He was born on 13th of August 1952 in Kolkata. He had four older brothers and 3 older sisters. His Great grandfather was a famous academician and Literary Sri Girish Chandra Basu Thakur who was also the founder of Malkhanagarh High School. His book ‘Se Kaaler Darogar Golpo’ was considered as one of the classics in Bengali Literature. Maternal Grandpa of Sri Monoranjan Guha Thakurta was the renowned Mica Businessman at Giridhi. He was called PRINCE of MICA MINES. Monoranjan Guha Thakurta was also linked with the freedom movement in India. His maternal Grandma was Smt. Monoroma Guha Thakurta. She was a famous devotee, and her name can be found in many related books in this country.

Sri Abhik Basu Thakur is a chartered accountant by profession and a poet by passion. He wrote a lot of poems. His poetry can be found in numerous papers and journals. His poems are also being found in textbooks of class V to class VII of ICSE board books.

Sri Satyajit Ray himself wrote the prologue in his first book named “Bhutor Jutor Golpo”. He published five books and his book named “Dersho Chorar Kando” published by Deys’ Publishing, received the prestigious Upendra Kishore Ray Chowdhury Award in 2019. Abhik Basu Thakur passionately travels around the world and his book of small travel poetries, “Khai Dai Ghure Barie” was adored by all. He also has a few audio cassettes of his small poetries. Till today every year Bangladesh Televisions I-Channel quote his poetry on Rabindranath Tagore to start their celebration on Rabindranath Tagore’s Birthday. His poetries can be found recited all around the world.

He received a grand reception in 2019 at New York by ‘Prothom Alo’, he has also interviewed by New York Times TV. He is also a good writer of prose. His travel stories were published in many renowned journals. His wife Smt. Soma Basu is a Psychologist on one hand and a Painter on the other. Her painted pictures can be found in the books (awarded) of her husband. He had two kids. His son Sri Abhiru is a Professor abroad and a singer. His daughter Smt. Adrija is a writer and lives abroad Both his kids did their PhDs from IIT.
